Get To Know Coach Lindsey:

WHAT IS YOUR COACHING EXPERIENCE?

After I graduated college, I found a way to stay involved in the volleyball world by coaching.  I was the assistant Varsity coach at Joy Christian High School one year and the Freshman head coach at Boulder Creek the next.  This will be my 4th season coaching club.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PART OF THE FORTITUDE FAMILY?

I have been friends with the Fortitude family for many years now but the 17/18 season will be my first year as an official Fortitude coach!

WHAT IS YOUR PLAYING EXPERIENCE?

Volleyball runs in my family so I've been a part of the club scene since I was little but I didn't start playing until 7th grade.  I played outside hitter and middle blocker at Sandra Day O'Connor with Coach Chelsea as my setter and Coach Kayce as my libero under Coach Bill Bellis...Family Reunion! Volleyball will always be in my blood so I still play in adult leagues and pick up games.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM? WHAT STATES HAVE YOU LIVED IN?

I was born in Long Beach, CA but I have been in AZ for more than half of my life now.  Time flies!

ARE YOU MARRIED? DO YOU HAVE ANY KIDS?

I am not married and do not have any little humans but I am a mom to spoiled mini golden-doodle named Lucy!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?

I love potatoes! Baked potatoes, fried potatoes, mashed potatoes, French fries.  Anything with potatoes and I'm in heaven!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COFFEE DRINK?

On occasion I love a nice and sweet iced caramel macchiato but on the daily a coffee with cream and a few pumps of white mocha is my go-to!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SPORT TO WATCH? (OTHER THAN VOLLEYBALL)

I don't have a favorite team but I do enjoy getting together with friends to watch football.  Do the Crossfit Games count as a sport?

WHAT DO YOU DO BESIDES VOLLEYBALL?

I work at Grand Canyon University as a finance/academic counselor.   Besides work, my newest hobby is Crossfit.  There is something about challenging yourself daily to be strong and healthy!  My typical non-volleyball weekend is spent working on the latest Pinterest or DIY project.

WHY DO YOU LOVE VOLLEYBALL?

I love volleyball because it's fun and competitive.  As a team sport volleyball gives the opportunity to work together with teammates to achieve goals and success can be defined in so many ways.  I love coaching because I am able to be a role model to these girls and teach them volleyball skills, goal setting, communication skills and so much more that will help them not only in volleyball but in their life as well.  And who doesn't love taking that game point by stuffing the hit with a block or hitting the ball straight down the line for a kill?!
